Jamaican Sensation Reggie Marley has the honour of being the first to have his name inscribed on the Carihi Cup.
Marley beat BJ Laredo in the final of an eight-man tournament put on by the Pure Wrestling Association (PWA) March 14 in Campbell River. The event was a fundraiser, with a portion of the proceeds and all the concession sales going to the 2014 Carihi grad class.
Marley beat Cremator Von Slasher in one semifinal to advance to the Carihi Cup final. In the other semi, BJ Laredo came out and complained that everyone was too scared to face him in the ring and because of that he should get a bye into the final.
The Thrillbillies (Comox Valley's Barry Goode and Campbell River's Mike E.O. Becherer) came out and said that even though they had a tag team match later on, one of them would face him. It ended up being Goode, and Laredo beat him to advance to the final.
The Thrillbillies delighted their local supporters by defeating Chris Slade and Matt Havik (managed by Father Juan Valdez).
Krofton took PWA B.C. champion Kenny Doll to the limit but just came up just short, allowing the dastardly Doll to retain the title. Riea Von Slasher defeated Bambi Hall to become the #1 contender for PWA's Elite Women's championship.
