The Sanzana sisters of Comox each made the podium at the 34th annual Pacific International Invitational Judo Tournament — a Judo Canada regional points event, and selection tournament for B.C. athletes wishing to participate in the 2019 Canadian Open Nationals.
Dakota, 12, won the U14, 44kg division, was second in the U16, 44kg class, and third in the team event. Makayla won a bronze medal in the U16, 63 kg class — a new division for her.
The event was hosted by the Steveston Judo Club.
