Special to the Record

We had a small error in the last report from Courtenay Lawn Bowling.  The picture was of the gold medalists,  Mary Wright, Belle Chan and Ann Van Bastelaare.

The silver medalists carried on their winning ways with Mary Mulligan and Lynn Chwartecki joining Rick Quibell in the Cruise Ship Mixed Triples in Nanaimo July 18-20 to win that event. Chris Fereday was on  the team that took third in A.

Four teams from Courtenay participated, with Vern Greenhill, April Gilchrist and Melie Ursulom fourth in the A event for the best finish of the group.

Locally, the Monday Interclub played in Courtenay on July 21, and the Courtenay men's  teams are leading the pack with 10 points. The ladies still have a chance, holding six points with two more sessions to go  Next action is Aug. 11 in Parksville.

Tuesday Mixed Pairs are in their second week with a good turnout of 14 teams.  Wednesday League is in the second week so no real results yet.  Thursday 242 has some enthusiastic players who keep turning out in the afternoon heat; that is at 2 p.m. for those who would like afternoon bowling now that the weather has cooled down.

Webber Singles has Vern Greenhill in the lead with 22 points, Dean Penny and Frank Lo in close pursuit with 18 points with two more weeks to go. All you players with games to make up get to it.  It is a good thing to finish the schedule.
