The Comox Valley PeeWee B Chiefs had a busy Jan. 3-5 weekend, hosting a home tournament. The team played hard and finished the round robin play with two wins and two losses.
A highlight of the tournament was a 7-5 win for the Chiefs over the Sooke Thunderbirds, who eventually won gold. The Thunderbirds play two divisions higher than the Chiefs in regular league play. The game was a hard-fought contest with fast, back-and-forth play by both teams.
In the playoff round, the Chiefs faced the Oceanside Generals, another higher ranked team. The game could not be decided in overtime and went to a shootout. After eight shooters, the Chiefs were defeated and ended with the bronze medal.
The team would like to thank our many sponsors for their support with this very successful tournament.: John’s Independent Grocer, Saputo, Happy’s Source for Sports and Target Pharmacy.
