Members of the Comox Valley Pool League are in Penticton this week for the B.C.s.

The Comox Valley Pool League is in its third season and plays every Wednesday night out of the Avalanche, Island Tides Lounge, The Mex Pub, Snookers Lounge and Sunnydale Golf Course.

“I created the league to bring fun, fair and completive pool for all skill levels of play and to give players the opportunity to play in national events across Canada,” said Rose Kantor. The league is organized to establish a situation that’s good for the player, bar owners, table owners and sponsors of the league, she added.

Each year the league sends two teams to Penticton to compete in the Canadian Cue Sports B.C. Championships, which brings players from across Canada. Right now the top nine shooters in the Valley are in Penticton showing off their skills to represent the Comox Valley.

This year’s men’s team is called Rack & Roll with Kevin Kane, Jason Rushton, Vince Bull, Rob Horton and Ed Johnson. The ladies’ team is called Ice Breakers with Deb Williams, Rose Kantor, Tracy Cross and Alison Zitelmann.

“This year we have picked up two great sponsor to help this trip become a success,” Kantor said, “Our team shirts were sponsored by Brad Knight and Rick Daas from Crown Isle Resort, and David Derhak and Ted Willoughby from Island Honda have sponsored a vehicle to help get us all there. The players wish a big special thanks to everyone who helped make this trip possible.”
