Sharpe, Brenneman continue pursuit of snowboard excellence

Sharpe slated to compete at Air Nation; Brenneman finishes 17th at World Cup

Air Nation, the Canadian Freestyle Nationals, will be taking place March 19-23 at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

This will be a great opportunity for up-and-coming athletes to compete with members of the Canadian Olympic Snowboard Team as well as to crown new Canadian national champions in both slopestyle and halfpipe.

Sochi Olympians including Jenna Blasman, Brad Martin, Crispin Lipscomb and Alexandra Duckworth will be competing, as will National Team athletes including Calgarians Breanna Stangeland and Brooke Voigt.

Canada’s future snowboard star Darcy Sharpe of Comox and up-and-coming riders as young as 13 will also be in action.

Meanwhile, Carle Brenneman of Courtenay was eliminated in the quarter-finals at the World Cup in Montreal on March 11. She finished 17th overall in the snowboard cross competition.
