LOCAL BOWLERS WERE in Nanaimo for a regional competition.

Special Olympics offers athletic opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities.  Bowling is one of the many sports offered by Special Olympics in the Comox Valley, and is particularly popular because of its accessibility.

Eight bowling teams from Comox Valley's Special Olympics recently drove to Nanaimo to compete in the regionals for Special Olympics with teams from all over the island.  Results from this competition will be used to choose athletes who will compete in the Provincial competition next year.

As is always the case, these events could not happen without the support of the community.  Each of the eight teams was supported by a volunteer coach, the bus driver Terri volunteered her time and a special thanks is once more due to First Student Canada for their continued support.
