Sport BC names Pam Ross coach-of-year

Pam Ross of Courtenay has been named Sport BC’s female coach-of-the-year.

A member of Courtenay-Comox Shito-ryu, Ross was the assistant karate coach for Zone 6 (Vancouver Island-Central Coast) at the BC Winter Games in 2012 and 2014, and head coach at the 2016 Games.

She is also the national kata coach for Team Canada.

Before coaching, Ross competed for many years at the national and international levels. She has been a gold medalist on the national stage, and competed at the Pan Am championships in Brazil.

Last week, she was coaching at the Senior Pan American Championships in Panama.
