Towhees go 1-2 at Belmont senior boys basketball tourney

The G.P. Vanier Towhees went 1-2 at the Belmont Invitational senior boys basketball tournament, Dec. 28-30 in Victoria.

After dropping their first game 65-50 to Pitt Meadows, the Towhees triumphed 98-95 over Britannia in a high-scoring affair then lost their final game 72-69 to Argyle.

Panorama Ridge went undefeated to take top spot, defeating the host Bulldogs 73-64 in the final.

The Towhees are at the Claremont Spartans Tournament this week (Jan. 5-7) then open North Island League play Jan.10 in Nanaimo against Dover Bay.

Upcoming is the Towhee Tournament, Jan. 13-14 at Vanier, with Rutland, Parkland, New West, Kwalikum, Timberline, Royal Bay and W.J. Mouat in town for the fun.
