In 2016, the House of Commons passed a private member’s bill introduced by Liberal MP Mauril Bélangera to alter the national anthem by replacing “in all thy sons command” with “in all of us command” in an effort to strike gendered language from O Canada.

The change brings the wording closer to the original lyrics, which were “…thou dost in us command.”

On Wednesday, Jan. 31, the Senate passed the bill.

How do you feel about the decision?
