Special to the Record

This week’s Thursday Night Jazz at The High Tide presents the dynamic collaboration of three renowned Vancouver Island musicians, as they join forces in the Attila Fias Trio.

Attila Fias, a Hungarian-born, Toronto-raised platinum-selling pianist and composer, now living in Victoria, has been recognized for seamlessly blending world music with jazz. Recognized for his spectacular and pyrotechnic playing, critics also praise him as a lyrical piano interpreter breathing new life into others’ works. Having performed on prestigious stages worldwide and collaborated with acclaimed musicians, Attila continues to make waves with his latest album of original music set for release in 2024, copies of which will be for sale at the concert.

Attila Fias - piano, compositions, and arrangements, is accompanied by Ken Lister - upright bass, and Hans Verhoeven – drums.

“The trio will be creating a tapestry of jazz, sometimes with world influences such as Brazilian and Latin music,” said Fias. “Our repertoire will consist of some of my original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards as we each explore different textures and new musical territory.”

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to witness these three wonderfully creative musicians in action as they interact with each other, crafting each musical moment as it emerges!

Downbeat is at 7 p.m. Arrive early if you want seats near the stage area. Admission is $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Annual memberships ($25) will be for sale at the door.
