Triple Heat Dance is offering an all-abilities program, geared specifically toward children and adults with developmental and physical special needs.

“Our objective is to provide a safe space where everyone is welcome to experience the joy of dance,” said THD studio owner Michelle Hillier. “Classes will allow the participants to explore a variety of styles of dance including ballet, modern stage, jazz, and creative movement.”

No previous dance experience is required. (Participants who require one-to-one support must provide their own assistant.)

Hillier points out some of the many benefits of dance, including:

• Physical exercise and movement;

• Increases strength, balance and co-ordination;

• Provides an emotional outlet through artistic expression;

• Improves motor skills;

• Dance fosters communication skills;

• As a social activity, making new friends is a great by-product.

The Adult (16+) all-abilities program runs Tuesday, 1:15-2 p.m from April 9 to May 14 at the Triple Heat Dance studio - #3-2364 Rosewall Cres., Courtenay.Hillier will be the instructor for this program.

Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Barefoot or socks.

This is a free program thanks to Triple Heat Dance and Triple Heat Dance Parent Advisory Society fundraising.

The Children’s all-abilities program (ages 1-5) will be led by Candice Woloshyn.
