Three Valley buildings recognized at Island commercial building awards

Three Comox Valley businesses were recognized for the best in commercial buildings north of the Malahat at the 2024 Vancouver Island Commercial Building Awards.

The awards were presented April 11 in Nanaimo at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. The 17th annual awards celebrates the best of commercial, industrial, institutional and revenue-producing projects completed in 2023.

The Comox Marine Services Building at 129 Port Augusta St. (owner/developer: Town of Comox; general contractor: Kinetic Construction Ltd.) took an award of excellence in the Hospitality & Tourism category, while Tree Island Yogurt at 2800 Beck Ave. in Cumberland (owner/developer: Tree Island Yogurt; general contractor: Acciano Development Inc.; architect/designer: John Chislett and Jim Matthews) took the award in the Industrial category.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 310 Hunt Rd. in Courtenay (owner/developer: Metropolitan Hospitality Management; general contractor: Sargent Construction; architect/designer: Lovick Scott Architects) was also recognized with an Award of Merit in the Hospitality & Tourism category.

The awards celebrate the best of the best commercial, industrial, institutional and revenue-producing projects completed in 2023.
