SEWELL, Betty Laura


Sewell, Betty Laura of Courtenay, B.C. passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox on Monday, April 12th., 2010. She is survived by her loving family, husband Joe Vincze; son Dan Sewell (Marylou); daughter Patricia Forst (David); stepsons Joe Vincze (Debbie); and Zoltan Vincze. Grandchildren: Megan, Eric, Corrinne, Tamara, Teagan and Joey. Great-grandchildren: Madison, Emma, Sarah, Julia and Kendra. Brother, Jim Piper (Ruth); Sister, Barbara-Jean Holland (Ken) and many nieces and nephews.


Throughout her life Betty coupled her love of the ocean, boating and fishing through her business endeavours, Sewell’s Marina, Roy Parker Marine and Willemar Marine.


The communities of West Vancouver and Courtenay/Comox are indelibly etched by her enthusiasm, diligent efforts, practicality and goodwill. Her volunteer efforts included 25 years with the Cancer Society of B.C. Betty possessed a great sense of humour, a simple yet elegant stature, and an incomparable sense of style. Betty and Joe enjoyed many happy times with close family and friends in their home and while travelling. They are well remembered in Florida, Mexico and Europe.


A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 1st. 12:30PM, Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay, B.C. Light refreshments to follow. In keeping with her simple style, we request any donations in her memory to be made to: The Canadian Cancer Society and The Alzheimer’s Society of B.C.
