GOOD
Donald Andrew
Born Feb. 25, 1921 in Denzil, Saskatchewan and died Aug. 12, 2009 in
Nanaimo, B.C.
Our Dad had a remarkable and busy life, bringing an easy laugh and
serious dedication to his family and to careers as diverse as flight
instructor and fighter plane pilot, grocery store owner, employment
development worker, rehabilitation consultant, and front counter person
at MacDonald's (at which he proudly won the Employee of the year award
at the age of 68). Throughout his working life he demonstrated to his
family and friends that all work is valuable, has dignity and is worthy
of our best efforts; getting as close as he ever did to what people call
retiring at 78. He always put his family first and up until his last day
was assisting his sons in the daily operation of their business. As a
father, there could be few equals in that he never merely talked about
values but instead exemplified them, day by day, every day of his life.
Dad enjoyed a 61 year love affair with his wife, our mother, Alison and
they were at all times passionately, actively and openly clear in their
love for each other. Dad would find almost any excuse to get a rose for
Mom and, knowing it was the simple truth, always signed it "All my love,
forever, Don"
He always acted honourably as, in his view, there was no alternative. He
saw the best in all people, always treating them as special and
encouraging them to achieve.
Dad is lovingly survived by his wife, our mother, Alison, son Donald
Good Jr. and wife Linda, son Ronald Good, daughter Lori Camire and
husband Victor, Grandchildren Graeme, Michaela, Rachel, Becky and Eric.
