Elsie Maud (Herd) Stockand, born June 27th, 1920 in Sandwick, BC passed away May 2nd, 2004 in Comox, BC. A long-time resident of Cumberland, she was predeceased by her parents Harry and Grace Marshall, her first husband George Herd, her grandson Gordon D. Clark and her sister-in-law Betty Bono. She is survived by her second husband John Stockand, her daughters: Grace (Gordon) Clark and Georgina (Lyle) Sadler, her son Harry (Cindy) Herd, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her sister Agnes (George) Webber and her brother-in-law Reno (Betty) Bono. Elsie was a life-member of Pythian Sisters Lodge, Temple #9, a member of Harmony Rebekah Lodge #22 for more than 20 years and the Cumberland Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch for over 40 years. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7th, 2004 at Cumberland United Church, 2688 Penrith Ave. with Rev. Peter Thomsen officiating. Interment will be private. A tea will follow at the Cumberland Seniors Centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cumberland United Church.
