May 30, 1923 – April 2, 2017

Mom lived a long, full life and surpassed her goal of being the longest-lived person in her family. She retained her sense of humour long past the time when others would have grown grumpy, considering the physical issues she faced. Her narcolepsy was an inconvenience, but she wouldn't let it keep her from doing the things she enjoyed.

Predeceased by her husband Lionel Walwork and by her brother Thomas Armitstead, Mom is survived by two sisters, Frances and Gladys, living in Ontario. She moved to the Comox Valley following her husband's death, to be near her daughter Barbara, her son Bryan and his wife, Catherine Connell. Soon after, her granddaughter Lisa Walwork and husband Todd Southen moved to the Comox Valley with their children, Joshua and Samuel, to whom she was “GG”.

For seventeen years Mom attended the Cumberland Senior Daycare Program and she would especially want us to thank Priscilla and Kim, who organized activities there, many of which Mom slept through! We also want to thank the VIHA Home Care and Nursing teams for their compassion and support, particularly during her final weeks. Many thanks to the Comox Valley Hospice Society volunteers and the Hospice at The Views for the comfort they provided Mom.

Our thanks also to Dr. Adam Thompson and Dr. Jeffrey Zorn, both of whom have been compassionate and frank in sharing information with Mom and the rest of us.

There will be a private family gathering to remember Mom.
