KLAVER - Iris, an easygoing gentle soul who was loved by many died in Comox, British Columbia on April 14, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Predeceased by loving husband Randy. She is survived by sons Brian (Gwen) and Bruce (Sandi), daughter Beth (Mike), grandchildren Peter (Marjorie), Michelle, Mathew and Sean, great grandson Braeden, sister Lavina and Beth (Elwood), nieces and nephews in Alberta, Ontario, Washington and California.

Born in Patricia, Alberta on the family farm of her beloved parents, Alvin and Jesse Eccles, Iris and her sisters Lavina and Elizabeth drove

a horse and wagon to the one room schoolhouse in the spring and fall and a sleigh through the winter. To complete high school she boarded with a family in Medicine Hat. Following high school she worked at a car dealership in Calgary where she met the love of her life, Randy. They started their family in Calgary and enjoyed all the seasons. In 1959 they pulled up stakes and moved to the Comox Valley, purchasing the Lynn-Maur Resort south of Royston. A few years later they purchased the Chrysler dealership in Courtenay and remained connected to the car business until retirement. Iris remained active in the community until her death. She was a member of the Courtenay Soroptimist Club for many years. Family, work, cruising, skiing, baking, gardening, church, Comox, baseball, bridge …. a few of her favourite things. Iris was a proud and active member of the Comox United Church congregation.

If a life may be measured by the number of people within your circle of

love, then Iris stood very tall. Our world is a better place because Iris lived and loved.

Join us in a celebration of a life well lived at Comox United Church on
