Forrester, Joan Gertrude

Born in Halifax, N.S. on March 2, 1936. Passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 12, 2003, surrounded by family at home. Predeceased by her father Laurence; her brother Valoise; her mother Elizabeth; her sisters Marie and Susan; niece Linda, nephew Glen and stepfather Herald. Joan is survived by her loving children Cindi (Don), April (Steve), Jacquie and Charlie (Jan); grandchildren Wayne, Chantell, Josh, Ricki, Christina, Candice and Paige, brothers Willard (Marion), Eddie, Gerald (Lucy); sister Carol (Brad) and numerous nephews and nieces. A devoted mother and grandmother who loved shopping for Christmas 365 days a year. She loved to travel and never missed a family gathering, Birthday or Graduation and attended every grandchild’s sports event. A good friend to Nita, Anne, RoseMarie and the gang at the mall. She loved to dine out with family and friends. She was creative, spending hours crocheting, knitting, sewing or painting a landscape. She had a soft heart, taking in every stray in the neighbourhood, be it animal or person. The family wishes to thank Dr. Weinerman - Victoria Cancer Clinic; Dr. Moulaison - Shawnigan Lake Family Practice, doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox - Dr. Matous, Jill, Vanessa and Moira from the Chemo Unit. The family also wishes to thank old friends from Kitimat - Irene Edelman, Marge Porsch, Dorothy Harris and Grace Ringham for being there for our mother when she needed a friend. A special thank you to Terry & Teri, Theresa, Mike and Candice for all your love and support during this difficult time.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC on Friday, August 22, 2003 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Mark Buchanan officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society.
