1934 - 2007
Joan was born August 24, 1934 in Winnipeg and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 8th, 2007. She was a tireless volunteer in the community. Joan was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion and served in many executive capacities at Branch 17 Courtenay. She was especially proud of her involvement with the Legion Bursary Fund and the Army Cadet Liaison Officer. Joan was predeceased by her husband David in 1990, infant son Thomas in 1962 and by brothers George and John. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Pat (Finn) Jorgensen, grandchildren Curtis (Angela), Ryan (Stephanie), great-grandchildren Lucas and Devon, brother Thomas (Joyce), sister-in-law Helen and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 1:00pm at the Branch 17 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Cliffe Ave and 3rd Street. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Legion Poppy Fund or the Legion Bursary Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Eric Toneff and Yates Funeral Services 250-338-2922
