In loving memory ~

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Kella-Lee Newson on December 18th, 2023. Surrounded by her beloved husband and children, Kella departed from this world too soon.

Kella enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her journey was one of love, resilience, grace and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Kella is survived by her devoted husband Harvey Grant, her four children: Susie (Hans), Aaron (Alexa), Richelle (Clayton), and Diana, her seven grandchildren: Kolten, Winslow, Imrie, Freya, Luna, Wylder, and Azalea as well as her sisters Diane and Tarry and her brother John. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the light of her life and each carries a piece of her that will live on through them.

Kella was a godmother to many and a cornerstone for an entire generation of kids who grew up in the Comox Valley. She was a Pillar in her community and was known for her dedication to her sobriety (20+ years) and devotional work with her AA community. Kella was also regarded for her career as a dental assistant and fisher. Kella took great pride in tending to her home, land and beautiful dahlia garden. Her home was a safe space for many. She leaves behind a legacy of great love. She will always be remembered for her strength, class, sass, devotion, and perseverance.

Kella is reunited with her late husband, George Newson, second grandbaby Willoughby, Mother, Father and ancestors in heaven.

A celebration of life will be held on August 24th, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Kella's home in Comox to honour her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Lily House (Comox Valley Transition Society), reflecting Kella's lifelong commitment to helping others.

As we mourn the loss of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunty and friend, let us remember Kella for the love she created and shared, and the impact she had on all our lives. It is our honour as her family, friends, and community to preserve her memory and continue her legacy of gentle kindness, steady strength, and unconditional care, support, and love for each other.

May she rest in eternal peace.
