Ken Christie, long-time Merville resident, passed away peacefully at home on April 9th, 2007. He was the 3rd youngest of 13 siblings and was predeceased by his wife Vi Christie as well as 10 brothers and sisters. Ken is survived and will be greatly missed by his daughters Faye Demoors (John), Linda Christie, Lonny Lawrentieff (Gary Thompson) and Sherry Christie, his grandchildren: Richard, Ronnie, Rachel, Renee, Randy, Dale, Stacey and Kaila, 5 great-grandchildren, his brother Stanley Christie (Mary), his sister Iva  and many nieces and nephews.

He worked for a brief time at Western Mines and worked in numerous logging camps as a Cat operator both on the island and the mainland. In his leisure time Ken enjoyed farming, baseball, hockey and gardening.  A gathering of family and friends in Celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, April 17th at 2:00 P.M. from COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, COURTENAY. Donations in Ken’s memory made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Comox Valley Unit, #102 – 1509 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, B.C. V9N 2K6 would be appreciated.
