In Loving Memory ~
We lost the heart and soul of our family, Margaret, on Friday April 5, 2024 to the effects of a rare neuro-endocrine cancer. Margaret was born March 10, 1945 in Victoria, B.C. and was widely known as an artist, master gardener, caring mother and friend. Her easy laughter was infectious.
She used her special sense of colour, texture and form for creativity in textile arts, botanical printing of silks and cottons, with quilts and wall hangings too numerous to count. Items have found homes around the world.
She had worked as a legal secretary, child care provider, Port Alberni School Trustee, court and RCMP clerk in Kitimat. If she was not at a sewing machine she could be found in her greenhouse and gardens.
Loving husband of 57 years, David, together with son Michael (Theresa) and daughters Laura (Eduard) and Kyla all assisted and comforted Margaret and each other for the last months.
She was pre-deceased by brothers Bob Barr (Connie) and Ian Milne (Linda), son-in-law Michael Landers, and survived by nine grandchildren. She treasured being blessed with over 25 years retirement, travelling to many parts of the world, and finding new purpose and opportunity at the new family venture, Westhaven Farm.
We will be holding a Celebration of Life Friday May 17th at Westhaven Farm, 5028 Headquarters Road. Driveway gates will open at 3:00 PM with assembly encouraged around 4:00 PM. Margaret loved colour so please avoid black and wear footwear suitable for touring our farm.
Margaret's art will be on display, with varied refreshments and opportunity to share stories. Our family has chosen the Comox Valley Regional Hospital, Cancer Care Centre as our choice to honour her memory by donation.
Every one of Margaret's creations has an original story or purpose, and were sold under the brand name "Margs1ofaKind".
They are, and so was she.
