SIECK, Marianne Bertha

Feb. 04, 1925 – Feb. 06, 2010

A woman who had a remarkable life, it is with sadness that we have to announce the sudden passing of Marianne. She will be dearly missed by her surviving family, her son Andrew, her granddaughter Kayla. Marianne was predeceased by her brother Kurt and her mother Else and her father Richard. Her husband of 53 years recently passed away March 30, 2009.

Marianne was born Feb. 04, 1925 in Hamburg, Germany and came to Canada for a visit in 1956. She married Willi in 1956 in Prince George which became their home until retirement. Marianne and Willi built a home in Comox and enjoyed the last 20 year of their lives in a warmer climate.

Marianne spent many years as a nurse before coming to Canada and once in Prince George she continued in the medical field as Director of medical records at Prince George Regional Hospital for almost 30 years. She also taught at the College of New Caledonia for 17 years.

Upon retirement Marianne was very active in Comox with volunteer groups such as the Cancer Society, the Heart Association, and the Hearing Impaired Society. She took the opportunity to travel all over the world and explore during vacations, and we will truly miss her stories of adventure. Marianne was a rare woman who had a full life and to those who knew her, will each have a special story to remember.

I would like I mention a special thank you to all the doctors and medical staff who assisted Marianne over the years.

We will Miss you,

Your family, Andy and Kayla and many friends.

A celebration of life for Marianne will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Piercy’s Funeral Home in Courtenay.
