McEACHERN, Richard Neil

November 4, 1940 - February 12, 2007

Richard (Dick) McEachern of Courtenay passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital with family by his side.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Delores, daughter Lynn, son-in-law and friend Matthias Gottmann, beautiful grandson Dawson, sisters Jean, Betty (Al), Edith and brother Gerald (Shirley), sister-in-law Maxine. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Born in Bon Accord, Alberta and raised in Edmonton, Dick met Delores and married in 1963. They decided to pursue their dreams on the west coast where Dick worked for Canfor in Vernon Camp. They started a family, eventually moving to Comox in 1973. Dick worked for Hartman’s Auto, prior to joining with others to start and run MCM Tile and Heating for over 30 years. Dick spent countless hours meticulously designing and building different projects at home, with his friends, and at work.

Dick’s true love was his family and the outdoors. He enjoyed taking his family on trips to see baseball games and other events. Most memorable is the trip to Campbell River to see the Stanley Cup with his precious grandson Dawson. In his younger days he enjoyed water-skiing, hunting and snowmobiling. Recently Dick enjoyed camping at the Fish & Game Club and other favorite spots on the island with family and friends.

“Dad will be deeply missed, his appreciation for the quiet

sunset will always be in our hearts.”

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 1:00pm at Piercy’s Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Otter’s Bistro (Edgewater) in Comox at 2:30pm.
