Harmston, Thelma Mae (Novits)

January 3, 1930 - April 18, 2006

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Thelma, on April 18th. Thelma was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan in 1930 and moved to Courtenay and married Ralph in October 1949. Thelma is predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Ralph in 1997, and two sisters Neva and Leona, and grandson Colin. She is survived by her children Heather Casey of New Zealand, Doug (Sharon) of Courtenay, and Jack (Anne) of Courtenay, grandchildren Rick (Fiona), Mike (Emily), Keith (Phillipa), great-grandchildren: Cheryl, Ashley, Katelyn, Rose, and Quinn, her brother Ken of Australia, sisters: Tommy (Lee) of Campbell River and Darlene of Nanaimo.

Thelma was involved for many years on the Executive of both the Canadian Daughters and Pythian Sisters, worked as a Notary Public in Woss, and was a member of the School Board for the North Island. She loved to play card games, camping, hunting and her and Ralph travelled many miles through the years. She packed a mean suitcase!

We would like to thank the staff on Third Floor at St. Joseph’s for the care and attention they gave to Mom.

As per Thelma’s wish a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
