Re. the March 27 editorial The good old days weren’t that good for women:
I am old enough to remember the “good old days” that weren’t that good for women.
I wish to add the fact that it was illegal to pass along birth control information up until the 1960s.
Also that women gave up their names when they got married. When Jane so-and-so married John Doe her legal name was changed to “Mrs. John Doe” not “Jane Doe”. When I was in school up to 1964 my mother signed my report cards by her Mrs. husband’s name. Indigenous people didn’t have rights either up until the mid-1960s.
In short, the “good old days” were confined to white males.
