Registration is filling up for the 13th annual Perseverance Trail Run Oct. 29 in Cumberland.

This year’s race will once again feature two classic trail run courses: A 3k cross country romp and an 11k mountain run. The romp showcases the protected Cumberland Community Forest trails including a few ups and downs, twists and turns and maybe even a little water. This course is perfect for those looking to sample cross country running, including walkers and the little ones. The mountain run is for those looking for a running challenge complete with steep climbs, flowing descents, technical single-track and breathtaking vistas. If you are ready to challenge your trail running stamina, this course will surely take you to new ‘heights’.

The Perseverance Trail Run is a community driven, grassroots event held each fall. The race has been organized by volunteers and supported by sponsoring businesses since 2004. The goal is to raise funds to purchase and protect the forest through the Cumberland Community Forest Society. Over the past 12 years, the race has raised over $550,000.

Racers looking to improve their trail racing skills can join the ELM Perseverance Adventure Running Clinic and learn the course inside and out. The eight-week program, coached by Perseverance race director Sarah Seads and her team of ELM ‘Fearless Leaders’, kicks off Thursday, Sept. 14. Visit elmhealth.com for more information and to register.

This race has sold out for many years in a row, so be sure to register early to avoid disappointment. There is no race day registration, no transfers and no wait list. When all of the spots are gone…they are really gone.
