The excitement is palpable as the Comox Valley Kickers RFC gear up to host the highly anticipated 2024 BC Rugby Senior Club quarter-finals.

After eight gruelling months of the regular season, the men’s team has secured home-field advantage for the quarter-finals.

On Saturday, April 20 at Cumberland Village Park, the Kickers will have a rematch against Richmond RFC.

The day was originally scheduled to be a doubleheader, however the Kelowna Crows forfeited their game against the women, so one of the Comox Valley teams has already advanced to other semifinals.

The men’s quarter-final match promise to be a spectacle of skill, determination, and raw athleticism with both teams vying for a coveted spot in the semifinals. For the Comox Valley Kickers RFC, the home advantage adds an extra layer of motivation.

At the game, spectators can indulge in a variety of food and drink offerings as well as stock up on rugby gear and Kickers branded merchandise to show their support in style both on and off the field. The club is looking for volunteers to help with the event. If interested, please get in touch with Joe Goldes, director of rugby operations, at cvkickers@gmail.com.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the quarter-finals in the Comox Valley,” said club president Aaron L’Arrivee. “It’s not just about the game itself; it’s about bringing people together, inspiring the next generation of athletes so that rugby can continue to grow in our community.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 12:45 p.m.
