Between June 12-29, several training exercises will take place at 19 Wing Comox.

Exercise activity will take place on the 19 Wing airfield as well as Goose Spit, Seal Bay and Air Force Beach. The exercises will include participants from the Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, and the United States Air Force.

During these exercises, members of the public can expect to see an increase in air activity in the area, as well as an increase in traffic and military personnel movements between 19 Wing, HMCS Quadra, and Seal Bay Armory. Access to certain areas may occasionally be restricted for public safety or security purposes. Notifications of these restrictions will be posted in advance.

Aircraft visiting 19 Wing Comox for the exercise will include CF-18 Hornets, Blackhawk helicopters, C-17 Globemaster and others. Most of these aircraft will conduct offshore training exercises with the Royal Canadian Navy. Several small uncrewed air vehicles (drones) will also be operated: these will remain clear of private property and civil air traffic.

Joint and combined exercises are important to ensure interoperability with our allies and to observe and learn from each other. Exercises such as these are routine military training; all exercise scenarios and have been carefully prepared to ensure realism, while maintaining the safety of the public and all involved.
