Musicians seek opportunity to make magical moments with the folks of Vancouver Island

Long before there were coal miners and mayday parades in Cumberland, the K’omoks First Nation eked out a good life on eastern Vancouver Island - a place they referred to as ‘the land of plenty.’

New York-based composer, saxophonist, and flutist Anna Webber, called “one of the most exciting new arrivals on the New York avant-garde jazz scene” by Peter Margasak in the Chicago Reader , will perform with her Simple Trio at Studio Live in Cumberland at 8 p.m. on June 22.

In October, local dancer and grade 12 G.P. Vanier student Dharma Knudson, with her team of Canadian dancers, will be travelling to Brondby Denmark to compete on a world stage, hosted by the International Dance Organization (IDO).
